1. PLAN  Select Your Activities

Choose one activity or pick them all. We’ll give you the planning guides and materials you need to create a National Teen Driver Safety Week campaign that suits your needs.

PSA CONTEST
Teens can put their influence and creativity to work by creating PSAs that encourage safe passenger behaviors. Categories include video, radio, print and performance art. The guide details the steps to get ready and tips for setting up a local competition.

FRIENDS DRIVING FRIENDS POLL
This activity uses a secret ballot to get teens’ opinions on passenger behaviors. Student leaders conduct an in-school poll during NTDSW, reporting students’ picks each morning on the announcements.

SPREAD THE WORD
Click here for easy ways to get the National Teen Driver Safety Week message out at after-school and community events. You can use flyers, personal testimony or social networking sites to spread the word. You’ll also find ideas for how teens can memorialize friends who have died in car crashes.

CLASSROOM MODULE
While students take a pop quiz on driver safety, the teacher creates a barrage of distractions – acting much like many teen passengers do. After the quiz, the teacher leads a classroom discussion on passenger distractions, and students work in groups to create rules for riding like a friend.
